In the cosy atmosphere of our restaurants, you get to experience a taste excursion to Calliola’s food world. You will get to enjoy the delicacies created in our skilled kitchens, made from locally produced ingredients. The sources of our chefs’ inspiration are the seasons, nature and stories of the archipelago.
Purje is a bright and spacious dining hall for 46 people. On the terrace opening from the front of Purje, you can enjoy lunches and dinners in the summer by nature.
Idylli is an excellent choice for get-togethers of about 20 people. One can sense the space’s archipelago history in the hall. Who have previously enjoyed dinners in Idylli? You can find out at Calliola.
In the ambience of Kirjasto, you can feast with about 20 of your friends. This cosy hall, which also has a pool table, is suitable for both relaxed and a bit more up-beat dinners.
The Venevaja building is a rustic and cosy place by the sea. The terraced hall suitable for 36 people is one of the most popular dinner spaces and an essential venue for crab feasts. The proximity of the sea and nature, as well as the space’s staggering fireplace, creates an atmosphere that can only be experienced at Calliola. In the summer, you can enjoy a party on the 20-seat terrace, which opens as an extension from the hall to the sea.
Our chefs plan menus appropriate for each season in great detail. Sources of inspiration for the food ensembles are the seasons and the tastes of the archipelago. The delicacies are made with skill and care, and together with drink recommendations, use high-quality ingredients from local producers. Groups choose menus in advance.
Feelings from the Calliola kitchen:
Welcome to enjoying a Calliola gourmet journey with us. The journey starts with a delicious welcome cup of coffee at the start of your event. Over lunch, a generous archipelago buffet is enjoyed, which provides additional strength for the day. In the afternoon, a sweet greeting from our kitchen pleasantly awakens towards the evening. At dusk, we serve a sumptuous dinner with wines. The following morning the gourmet journey once again continues with a fresh breakfast.
You can enjoy the excellent wines chosen for Calliola with your dinner. Our wine selection features both European and New World wines, which have been chosen to complement our menus.
Our staff will be happy to tell you about the wines and to help you choose appropriate drinks for the occasion. Dinner wines are recommended to be chosen in advance. The Calliola area is fully licensed.
At the Raaseporilainen organic farm, Ülle and Sebastian Nurmi raise Finnish sheep and East Finn cattle. Finnish sheep are a vibrant breed well-adapted to the Northern climate. At the moment, there are 250 ewes, about ten rams and up to 500 lambs on the farm. The meat of Finnish sheep is lean and very tasty. The naturally good taste is completed with pure, diverse nutrition. The Bovik organic lamb was chosen as Finland’s best raw material in 2004.
The Bovik organic farm’s product range features seasonal, for example, lamb and cattle meat, different kinds of sausages, sweaters and socks made of lamb’s wool, as well as fur rugs. In our pictures, our staff are wearing Bovik’s soft sweaters.
Bovik sheep often do the landscaping in Calliola. Finnish sheep, in addition to cattle, are the best landscapers both ecologically and on the basis of results.
The family-owned company West Chark Oy (currently in Finnish or Swedish) offers delicious meat products and is run by Leila and Jan Westman in the Pohja municipality. The products are mainly Finnish raw products, for example the game meat has been acquired from the nearby hunters. Bison, Highland and lamb meat come from Karjalohja, where the livestock lives nearly organically, and is be processed in West Chark. West Chark’s Kevätgrilleri was chosen as 2009’s best sausage.
Calliola guests have been served Fairtrade coffee and tea since 2008. We go through a lot of coffee during the events as well, so we wish to offer our customers an ethically produced alternative. By using coffee that is Fairtrade certified, we influence the lives of coffee farmers and affect a positive future, in addition to improving the environmental area in coffee-growing countries.
A bakery in Tammisaari, Backers Baker (currently in Finnish or Swedish), has become familiar to a lot of Calliola guests, for example, through their breads. You can also buy bread to take away. Please pre-order.
Ukkolan Vuohitila (currently in Finnish), situated at Karjaa’s Meltola, delivers products such as a wide selection of delicious cheeses, yoghurts and sour milk.
Calliola’s cosy wooden hut is situated by the sea, surrounded by nature, but only a stone’s throw from our conference facilities. The wooden hut is a great place to gather your thoughts with campfire coffee during the meeting day. A trip to the hut is also a great way to take a break at the end of a hard conference day, enjoy dinner at the hut and experience a pinch of life in the archipelago.
A brief walk rejuvenates the mind and provides more energy for a day’s work. Traditional campfire coffee with toppings can be enjoyed in the warmth of the hut, to where a group walks in about 15 minutes. A coffee break at the wooden hut is suitable for a group of 10–50 people. The program lasts for about 1–1.5 h, depending on the size of the group.
Enjoy a delicious hut dinner in cosy surroundings by the fire. Dinner at the hut is suitable for groups of 10–20 people. The program will run for about 2–3 h, depending on the size of the group.
The hut is within Calliola’s licensed area. You can also enjoy wines and special beers during dinner. Themed evenings can also be organized at the wooden hut, complemented by for example a Robber’s roast or game paella.
